With their tax refund and a loan from Eastman’s uncle they were able to publish a couple thousand copies of the comic and also had enough to advertise it in Comics Buyer’s Guide Magazine. They quickly made their money back and a profit. From their the comic saw huge success with many adaptations being made in different forms of media. From live action movies to cartoon Television series many pizza endorsements, this series has withstood the test of time.

The first issue of the comic did include the original four turtle, splinter and shredder. It wasn’t until after the first issues that characters like April O’Neal and hockey masked vigilante Casey Jones are introduced. Showing us that if it wasn’t for its popularity and success of the fist issue there might of not been a April O’Neal nor a Casey Jones. Cowabunga !, might not of been a staple of the series and the award winning beat ’em up TMNT 4 : Turtles in Time.
